I was debating on whether or not to share this story, but what the heck right? It sure taught me a lot in those 5 seconds.
Please read the whole story before you freak out...
Tuesday night I was preparing for a not so fun medical procedure so my mom was over at my place for moral support. I was starving from only drinking liquid for 24 hours, grumpy from being hungry and pretty much facing my worst nightmare without getting into to many details.
My mom and I were hanging out on the couch watching "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." In other words, she was sleeping on the couch and I was texting a couple of my pals. Jody's dear friend Daren calls my phone at about 8:40 pm. At first I thought it was odd that he was calling my phone since he usually calls Jody. I answer and Daren sounded a little strange. He asked if Jody was sitting by me. I said no and said he was at work until 9. Daren asked when the last time I talked to him was. (What? What is going on? That is what was going through my head) I stopped and finally said "Daren, What is going on!" He then tells me that There was a mass e-mail that was sent to everyone at Jody's work saying that "Jody Crockett had passed away."
WHAT!?!?
I called Jody at work immediately. While I was dialing, my mom woke up, saw me completely CRUMBLING into little sobs and hyperventilation. I kept just saying over and over, "no what will I do, no no what will I do." On the first ring, Jody answered his desk phone. I just completely lost it at that point. It took a good couple minutes before I finally composed myself enough to tell Jody what had happened. He chuckled (which made me sooo MAD!) and said "Babe I texted you ten minutes ago!" He then looked at his phone and noticed since it was set to silent mode, that he had about 10 missed calls from everyone he has listed in his phonebook. No one could get through, so this news had spread like wild fire.
Daren, the brave man, was the one who braved the storm to call the poor wife to see what was going on.
I called Jody at least 3 times just to make sure I was not imagining things.
There is nothing like getting a call saying your husband is gone. Jody is still very alive. There is nothing to worry about. I will say one thing, I appreciate him a lot more. I love his blue eyes, his scruffy beard, and his dishes in the sink. I cherish the fact that we are sealed together, so that IF anything were to ever happen to either of us, we will be able to live in eternity together forever. I just love Jody and EVERYTHING about him.
That was the SCARIEST 5 SECONDS OF MY LIFE!!!!
P.S. Jody still thinks it is a little funny that I would think that I would find out of his "passing" by a mass e-mail from his work.
P.S.S. I still tell Jody at least 5 times a day, that I am glad he is not dead.
